I intend to be at the workshop from 10am this Sunday to spend much of the day converting our numerous piles of timber into something that’s ready to pop onto a lathe. Everyone is welcome to come down and help and, if you’ve not seen it before, see how we convert logs into useful blanks for turning.
The main aims of the day are to:
- Prepare bowl and spindle blanks for courses, Turning Tuesdays and for members to buy
- Clear the pile of wood next to the fence by the gate
- Clear the various piles of wood around the workshop
This will involve:
- Planking/milling the larger pieces with chainsaws
- Cutting bowl and spindle blanks using the bandsaw
- Sealing blanks using glue or wax
- Finding/making a home to store the blanks
I expect there will be an amount of firewood generated as a result of all this so bring some bags if you want to take some away with you.
I expect we’ll be finishing by 4pm at the latest, but hopefully earlier if we get a good turn out.
Cheers,
Phil

Well I think that was a very successful day with all the main objectives achieved so many, many thanks to everyone who turned up to help.
n i think a big thanks should go to Phil for all his work at the workshop
Harrogate show 21st -23rdNovember I have six spare complimentary tickets for any one that’s going
Reg.
I will be going to Harrogate again with a couple of folks from Dumfries, so if nobody else wants the tickets, I could use one or two before they go to waste.
