Club Competition 2017

The voting system for the competition has been changed.

The marking slips are gone as has the numerical marking system and the averages calculated based on the marks.

Instead we now have a simpler system which works as follows:

  1. Each entry in the two sections (novice or mature turners) will have a small receptacle placed next to it which will bear its competition entry number.
  2. To vote you use the black tokens (buttons in our case) for mature turners and white tokens for novice turners and simply put your token into the receptacle of the piece you like the most.
  3. Tokens are handed out by the competition secretary, if you enter the competition you will not be given a token for the section you have an entry in – so you can not vote for your own piece!
  4. At the end of the break the tokens for each entry will be counted and the rankings of each piece worked out.
  5. At the end of the night the winner of that month will be announced.
  6. Points will be awarded for all entries from first place to 10th place, so we will have 10 points for first place and 1 point for tenth place. Those tied for places will be awarded the same points.
  7. The points will be entered into a league table and the club champion will be the person with the most points at the end of the year.
  8. The monthly results will be put on the website as will the league table.
  9. In the event of a draw we will make a decision based on the number of first places, second places and so forth.
