CoursesCourses are held at our workshop in Castle Douglas but we may be able to offer a similar course at a members’ workshop in Creetown. Courses are run as required so please refer to the Calendar for course dates. Please email Rolf Buwert or Roger Cutler if you are interested in any of the courses below. TastersWe offer a two-hour Taster session at which you would make a small item to take home. Tasters cost £20 and are open to anyone who fancies giving woodturning a try. Introduction to Woodturning CourseThis is a six week course covers all the basics to get you started quickly and safely – full details To cover us for insurance purposes you must be a member of the club which costs £40 (as of 2024). The course fee is £120 per member and includes all tools and materials. A non-refundable payment of £60 is payable at the time a place on the course is accepted. This helps to reduce the number of people who fail to show up and therefore means we can make better use of the time our instructors donate freely for the benefit of the club. The remaining £60 is payable at the beginning of the course. All courses and fees for people under 16 years of age are half the adult fees. Intermediate and advanced coursesAlthough we have no intermediate or advanced courses set out, we run occasional workshops to help you improve on a particular subject such as “better bowls”, “colouring and texturing” or “hollowing” for example. The content for a Better Bowls workshop which we have run previously is available here Better Bowls Workshop . |
