Spinning Top Tuesday

Next Tuesday 5th March is declared Spinning Top Tuesday. Come along to the workshop, usual time 7-9pm, and make a few spinning tops to help our fundraising activities.

If you don’t know how, and Rolf’s quicky demo at the last Club meeting wasn’t enough, we’ll show you how. We will have a few examples of good and not so good tops. The Club has plenty of suitable wood. Bring your own tools if you wish.

Finishing with CA workshop, Sunday 4 November

The Finishing with CA Workshop is this Sunday 4 November, 1.30 pm – 4 pm. CA or Superglue can be used as a finish on any small item, not just pens.

This is a WORKSHOP not a demonstration so bring an item to finish, or bring a piece of fine grained wood to turn as a test piece. I wouldn’t advise trying an expensive pen kit as your first attempt.

It is also a good idea to bring a glove for your dominant hand – I use an old lightweight gardening glove.

CA, safety cloth and non-stick bushes will be on sale from the Club shop.

The platter was shaped by Phil and decorated by Roger Cutler as a ‘thank-you’ for the wood. The wood has been planked and is drying under cover at the Club and is available for sale to Club members.

Potential new member may appreciate a lift

Phil H has been taking part in a show at the Harbour Cottage Gallery in Kbt recently. Also taking part was Jane Fraser from somewhere Stranraer way who is interested in the Club. Is there anyone who lives to the West of CD who would share driving, petrol etc. with Jane ? You don’t have to come from Stranraer, anywhere to the West may help.

Contact Phil H and I’ll give you Jane’s contact info.   Thanks
