Tonight will be a demonstration by myself looking at turning a platter.
The competition tonight is a Table Lamp (Shade recommended but not a requirement)
The wood of the month is Padauk and Bryan Jardine has again drawn the short straw..
Next month- July- there is no club meeting although the normal Tuesday and Wednesday tuning will continue.
In August the Club night will be a question and answer evening with a small panel of “experts” taking your questions. Please come prepared with some interesting questions – about woodturning!
Professional Demonstration
The demonstration we had from Mick Hanbury last month was one of the best demonstrations we have had. Mick took us through various types of coloured work explaining to great effect the various steps involved (even Jake was impressed enough to buy some paint!!) It was a great pity that attendance was low.
The next professional Demonstration is on September 24th with Simon Hope – Please support this event – get your tickets early and not at the last minute.
Master Classes
There is one place on the Simon Hope Master Class on Sunday September 25th. The cost for the class is £55 for the full day. If you would like to come to this please let me know asap – first come first served.
Approved Tutors
Rolf and myself took our AWGB Tutors Assessment last month and we were both awarded our Approved Tutors Award. We have no courses on at the present time although following the Spring Fling weekend we do have some enquiries.
Spring Fling – We had a reasonable time at the Spring Fling event at Kirkandrews with Rolf entertaining the crowds on his pole lathe. Sales of work brought in around £180 but this still has to be divided between the kirk and ourselves.
The next evet the club is involved in is the Kirkcudbright Country Fair on July 9th & 10th where will have stand and we will be demonstrating to the public. If you can help over the weekend please let David know – the more volunteers we can get to men the stall the easier it will be.
Roger.
