Member Tom Florey has been making wooden trees with a friend for a Christmas tree festival. The picture shows some examples but if you’d like to see them in person the event is at St John’s Episcopal Church and Hall, Dumfries on Friday and Saturday this weekend from 10am to 9.00pm and then Sunday afternoon. More details available from Dumfries and District Flower club.

Mature Turners: John Twiname

Wood Prep – Sunday afternoon 6 November
Thought I’d post a few details for what to expect on Sunday.
Meet at the workshop for 1pm and then we’ll split into two groups, one staying at the workshop and the other travelling to at Barwhinnock House. If you’d rather go straight to Barwhinnock House I aim to be there for 1:30pm.
The aim is to be finished by 4pm.
Workshop party
- Cut, seal and price blanks and put on shelves
- Tidy up the wood shelves and move any non-blanked pieces of wood back outside
- Outside, convert useless wood to firewood
Note that a proportion of the firewood is to go back to Barwhinnock, the remainder is available to members in return for a donation to club funds.
Barwhinnock party
- Clearing a section of branches (loppers and axes might be more suitable than chainsaws)
Workshop Opening on Wednesday afternoons
Judith will deputise for me and open the workshop from 2.00 – 4.00pm. on Wednesday 2nd November.
Thereafter, if there is sufficient interest, I should be free to open the workshop on Wednesday afternoons until the end of February, (except for December 28th and January 4th!).

Auction
Thanks to everyone who helped set up, and clear up after the auction today, and a special thanks to everyone who attended and bought items. Many bargains were taken home, and some of us can look forward to cleaning up, servicing, or making new handles for items we bought. It is good to see new homes being offered to the ‘stuff’ and ‘bits’.
There are a number of unsold lots still in the workshop, and over the next two weeks we will regroup them, and offers can be made for some of those items, either as groups, or individually. After that, items which are still unsold will be sent for recycling.

If any body is interested in Mallee Burls – See poster below – please e mail me as I will be putting an order in soon. The more we can order the cheaper we can get them.
