We turned up today for our last session of Wednesday afternoon turning until the autumn, and were surprised to discover a rearranged workshop. Our part-completed bowls, which had been safely placed on top of the tall grey tool cabinets, had been moved.
Try as we might, we could not find our missing bowls, not in the workshop, not in the kitchen, nor in the rest of the building! No matter how they may look to other people, some effort has gone into making them as they are, and it would be nice to be able to finish them.
In the end we left having done no turning.
Does anyone know where we might find them?

Many thanks for your complimentary comments Rolf ~ but you have not answered my basic question ~ “Where are our bowls?”

Hi David thanks for looking after us on Wednesday afternoons.See you at the meetings

Hi David,
It wasn’t me! I think Jimmy said that he’d found them and put them in the shop so hopefully you can reclaim them at the club meeting tomorrow.
So although this wasn’t me on this occasion, I think it is related to what some of us doing to try and keep the workshop tidy. One of the issues we have with this is the numerous part-turned things that are left on lathes, in cupboards, on top of cupboards, on shelves, under shelves, etc. Some of these, like yours, are current and need to be kept. Many others have just been put aside and then forgotten about. So periodically we need to clear away the old stuff, the problem we have is knowing which is which.
Ideally what we need is for members to put their name on their work, preferably with a date. That way we can easily identify what should be kept and what is safe to clear away. I mentioned this at the AGM but I think we can probably do better on the communication side so this doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone else in future.
Regard,
Phil
Hi Phil,
Many thanks for your helpful comments and I agree wholeheartedly with what you say.
We should have left a note with our bowls to indicate that they were works in progress along with our names and the date. I will ensure that in future such information is available.
We have family visiting at the moment and so I will not be at the club meeting tomorrow
