Firewood

A few people have asked me what’s happening with the pile of firewood accumulating at the club and I wasn’t sure whether we should give it away or sell if for funds for the club. We’ve decided that members are free to share it amongst themselves and to make a donation to the “wood” jar if they want to.

This will be the same for offcuts from the bandsaw as and when we bag them up in future.

Also, we are accumulating a lot of shavings so if anyone has a use for these let me know otherwise they’ll be taken to the tip.

Cheers, Phil

All ready for Margaret

So a few of us spent a highly productive the day rearranging the workshop, tidying up the woodstore and getting everything ready for Margaret Garrard’s demonstration tomorrow. We’ve got both cameras and the sound system working, brushed up, dusted the new lathe and laid out a fine assortment of timber for you to buy at exceptionally reasonable prices.

Margaret arrived at about 4pm and has set herself up. Some of her display pieces are brilliant and I think we’re in for a real treat tomorrow. See you there!

Wood Prep this Friday

I am planning to be at the workshop on Friday 23 May to spend some time tidying up the wood stores outside. This will involve chainsaw and bandsaw work to plank logs and prepare bowl and spindle blanks.

Depending on time and progress I might also spend some time getting signs and things ready for our big events at the weekend.

I’ll be there from 10am until I’ve had enough. Feel free to join me if you fancy it.
