Well done everyone ! I was almost moved to tears by the quality of the work (or maybe it was just a touch of hay fever) What a talented bunch of turners we have, and yet I know there are other members who can produce items just as good who have not entered the competition for a while, or are still to enter for the first time, I would love to see more, so please don’t be shy, lets see what you can do. All entries are anonymous and the winner is announced by number and is then free to whoop with joy and claim the credit, or not, as they wish.
Hi folks, yes Rolf very good workman ship there, well done every one,may be you don’t need me back wae such talent in the club but it’ll be good to get back into the swing of it soon, great again well done every one
We miss you Jake, and would be happy to see you back at the workshop. I always liked to see your competition entries, which were always good and often very different – I like different. Come back when you are ready, the standard of heckling has fallen since you were last at a meeting.
I made a New Year’s resolution to enter every competition this year. I did this for 2 reasons: first to encourage myself to get into the garage and turn something once a month. Second, to try my hand at turning something I wouldn’t otherwise have tried before. I’d never have made a ships wheel otherwise and it was actually an interesting thing to make. It’s nothing to do with winning or beating anyone else, it really is just about taking part and trying something new. It also gives members something to see and compare on a club night so ultimate it helps everyone,
So if anyone is nervous about entering the competition, please don’t be, just take the plunge and give it a go?
I totally agree with your comments Phil.
The club committee needs to ask the shy members in the club what they would like done to encourage them to take part in the competition.
Our present junior member sure is showing the way to compete in the novice section and only 14 years of age.
